The one that starts at the base of your skull and owns the rest of your afternoon. Tension headaches, migraines, and the jaw and neck mechanics underneath them.

Neck Pain

Checking your blind spot has become a whole-body turn. Stiffness, nerve pain down the arm, and the knot between your shoulder blades that never fully lets go.

Reaching for the top shelf and stopping halfway. Rotator cuff pain, frozen shoulder, and that catch every time you press overhead.

The Recovery Journey

A plan you can see. Progress you can feel.

You’ll never wonder if it’s working. Four phases, each with a job and a way to know you’ve earned the next one. You move up when you hit the standard, not when the calendar says so.

Phase 1 of 4

From visit one

Pain

Calm the pain down.

  • Hands-on treatment starting your very first visit
  • Pain education so you understand what’s really going on
  • Quick wins early so you trust the plan
Physical therapist providing hands-on treatment to calm acute pain

Once the pain settles

Prime

Get your motion back.

  • Targeted mobility work for the joints and tissue holding you back
  • Exercise dosed to your body, not a generic sheet
  • Movement retraining so old habits stop reloading the problem
Patient working through guided mobility exercises with a therapist

Once motion returns

Perform

Make it strong enough to trust.

  • Progressive loading that builds real capacity, not just tolerance
  • Strength standards you have to hit before moving on
  • Confidence under load, so you stop bracing for pain
Patient performing progressive strength training under supervision

Before you are cleared

Prevent

Make sure it never comes back.

  • Sport- and life-specific testing before you’re cleared
  • A simple keep-it-gone program built for your real schedule
  • Clear graduation criteria: you’ll know exactly when you’re done

Not sure which phase you’re in? That’s exactly what the evaluation is for.

Why Harris Physical Therapy and Wellness

You’ve maybe done PT before. Not like this.

A lot of people land here after somewhere handed them a printout and a heat pack. Here’s what’s different when a Doctor of PT owns your whole visit.

Physical therapist guiding a patient through a one-on-one session
Doctor of Physical Therapy reviewing a treatment plan with a patient
One-on-one Every visit
01

One-on-one, every visit

You will never be handed off to a tech, and you will never share your time with three other patients.

02

A Doctor of PT, every time

The same Doctor of Physical Therapy who evaluates you is the one who treats you and progresses you. There is no rotation.

03

No referral needed

In North Carolina you can start physical therapy without seeing your physician first. Nothing has to wait on a referral.

04

Undivided time, every visit

A full hour for your evaluation, then 45 focused minutes one-on-one at every visit after. Not fifteen with the doctor and the rest with an aide.

Your First Visit

Know exactly what to expect.

No mystery, no surprises: here’s your first hour with us, minute by minute.

Evaluations run a full hour. Follow-up visits after that are 45 focused minutes, one-on-one.

0:00

You’re greeted by name.

Paperwork’s already done: you did it at home. Straight back, no waiting room purgatory.

0:05

We watch how you move.

A full movement assessment, not just where it hurts, but why it hurts.

0:25

Treatment starts today.

Hands-on work in the very first visit. You’ll feel the difference before you leave.

0:55

You leave with the plan.

What’s going on, how long it’ll take, and exactly what happens next.

One hour. You walk out knowing what’s wrong, how long it takes, and what happens next.

Patient Stories

Real people. Real comebacks.

S Suzanne M.

Christian Harris is great to work with. With his help, I have successfully avoided shoulder surgery. He is compassionate, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable.

B Blake T.

He really cares about clients’ goals and outcomes. If you are working with him, he is on your team. He thinks about the whole person in physical therapy, which is refreshing. And you get a lot of great time one-on-one with him.

via Google

C Chris D.

After 6 months of what I thought was hip pain Christian was able to identify within minutes that it was lower back. In less than a week of exercises given by him the pain has been relieved drastically!

via Google

M Michelle L.

He pinpointed my issue, provided me treatment that gave me pain relief, and gave me a personalized home program to do before and during the tournament to make sure I had the best chance of competing.

via Google

K Katie

I came to him a few months after a car accident with pretty severe whiplash, and I was still in a lot of pain. He stuck with me through the tough days and helped me slowly build my strength back.

via Google

N Nick H.

He helped me get healthy and strong enough to run my first half marathon. He’s very understanding, adaptable, and knowledgeable and wants you to achieve your goals just as much as you do.

T Travis F.

He has taken me from knee pain, shoulder pain, hip pain, calf pain and we have worked through all of it. I am an extreme athlete and for him he handled all of my issues with ease and care.

via Google

D Dain V.

He took the time to truly understand my unique medical situation and carefully developed a personalized activity plan tailored to my exact needs.

via Google

T Theresa D.

Christian has been absolutely wonderful for my oldest who needed PT after a bad concussion in rugby. He has helped her so much and she looks forward to going to her appointments.

via Google

K Kerry O.

My daughter is a competitive dancer and had a back injury. He worked with her 1:1 (rare these days!) and focused not only on her injury, but identified areas of weakness and strength trained her to prevent future injury.

via Google

R Robert M.

Every exercise and adjustment has a clear purpose, and he explains the ‘why’ behind it so you can continue improving outside the clinic. It’s not a one-size-fits-all plan.

via Google

R Randy L.

He came directly to my home with everything needed for a full, one-on-one session, without any of the impersonal feel of a clinic or the headaches of dealing with insurance.

The Honest Truth

Pain rarely waits with you.

Here’s what actually happens in the next 90 days, on both paths.

If you keep waiting

  • Your body compensates: other joints quietly pick up the slack
  • Simple problems layer into complicated ones
  • The workouts, walks, and weekends keep shrinking
  • Painkillers manage the noise, not the cause

If you start this week

  • A Doctor of PT finds the actual cause: visit one
  • Hands-on treatment starts the same day
  • A phase-by-phase plan with an endpoint, not endless visits
  • You are treated on visit one, not booked in for an assessment and sent home

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic says they regret waiting.

Questions, Answered

Everything you’re wondering before you book.

Straight answers: no medical jargon, no runaround.

No, most states, including NC, allow direct access to physical therapy, so you can start without a doctor’s referral. If your insurance requires paperwork from a physician, we’ll handle tracking it down so it doesn’t hold up your care.

This practice was built as an alternative to insurance-driven physical therapy, so your plan is decided by what you need rather than by what a payer authorises. Send us your insurance details through the free benefits check and we will tell you exactly where you stand before you book anything. You will never be surprised by a bill here.

Wear something comfortable you can actually move in. Shorts are best if we’re treating a knee or hip, and a tank top or loose tee helps if we’re working on a shoulder or neck.

Your evaluation runs a full 60 minutes, one-on-one. Every visit after that is 45 focused minutes, one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. You leave the evaluation with a phase-based plan that has an endpoint, not a guess and not an open-ended string of appointments. How long the whole thing takes depends on what we find, and you will be told honestly rather than optimistically.

It’s brief and localized: most people feel a quick twitch, then a wave of relief in that muscle. And it’s always optional; we’ll never spring it on you without explaining it first.

No. Every visit is one-on-one, hands-on care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, never a tech handing you a printout. Your exercises are dosed specifically for you and progressed live as you improve.

That’s a fair question, and it’s usually the model, not you. A lot of clinics rotate you through techs and hand you generic sheets. Here, you get one-on-one time with a Doctor of PT every single visit, a cause-first evaluation instead of a cookie-cutter protocol, and a phase-based plan with clear graduation criteria, so you always know why you’re doing what you’re doing, and when you’re done.
